
THE CIVIL WAR - Please read the link below. In your blog entry, discuss where the Civil War started, why it started, and some of the major players involved. Be sure to include a definition of what secede means, and explain why secession was important to southern states
The Civil War started because of the issues between the north and the south over slavery. It started at Fort Sumter in South Carolina. The first state to secede from the union was South Carolina and secede means “to leave” . secession was important to the southern states because if they were able to secede they could do what they want ,which was slavery. The most important person in the Civil War was Abraham Lincoln because he made the decision to free slaves and fight for what’s right. Some others included, Robert E. Lee, and Ulysses S. Grant. Robert E. Lee was a general for the Confederacy and Ulysses S. Grant was a general for the Union.
ReplyDeleteToday I read an article about the Civil War. I learned a lot of stuff about the Civil War in this article. It started in 1861. The war lasted 4 years. As early as 1858, the conflict between North and South disagreed over slavery. Beauregard open fired in Charleston Bay, South Carolina. It began when the Confederate shore lined up under General P.G.T.. Secede means to leave and not be a part of. Some important people in the Civil War were Abraham Lincoln, General P.G.T., and Beauregard.

The reason the war started was to abolish slavery but the south wanted slaves because they had all the plantations while the north was more factories so they didn’t really need slaves. The country was torn apart from the decision to abolish slavery. The south wanted to split the country into two countries so they could have slavery, but because of that decision a war broke out. This war will end with more Americans dead than any other wars.
Some of the important people in the war were Abraham Lincoln, General P.G.T, and many other people. Abraham Lincoln was important because he made all of the hard decisions and was the president. General P.G.T was important because he was the person that started the Civil War.
The definition for secede is to separate. Secession was important to the confederate because they were going to separate from the United States to have slavery.

The Civil War started because the Northern States of America had been against slavery, but the Southern States still kept slaves. The Southern States were led to form a unified separation from the rest of the Northern States. Two major players in the war were Abraham Lincoln, the Union leader, and Jefferson Davis, the leader of the Confederacy. Republican Abraham Lincoln won the presidency and forced the Confederacy to secede. After the announcement, South Carolina began taking forts, arsenals, and more important areas within the state. Jefferson Davis from Mississippi, was then elected president of the Confederate States of America. Four years after the first battle at Fort Sumter, the Confederate States lost the war at the cost of 620,000 Confederate and Union Casualties.

Today I read about the Civil War. It started in 1861. The Confederate Army opens fire on the Union Army. It started in South Carolina’s Charleston Bay. In the next 34 hours, 50 Confederate weapons were fired. On April 13TH U.S. Major Robert Anderson surrendered the fort. Two days later, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln made a proclamation calling for 75,000 volunteer soldiers. The North was fighting the South over the issue of slavery. Abraham Lincoln was a major player involved. Secede means withdraw formally from membership in a federal union, an alliance, or a political or religious organization.
ReplyDeleteThe argument started in 1858 when the southern states wanted to split from the rest of America. However, the war didn’t start until 1861 in South Carolina. When Abraham Lincoln was elected president, 7 states had withdrawn from the Union.

Secession was important because 7 southern states (including Texas) had seceded from the Union.
